Search Engine Optimization is one of the most heard term these days in Digital Marketing. In simple terms SEO is spine of the businesses that want to create an online presence. SEO helps your website to rank in the Search engine. Factors like content, loading time, navigation, internal & external linking, image optimization and meta titles & descriptions affect your website’s ranking.
Nowadays, the trending tactic in SEO is Blackhat SEO. No, it’s not a good practice, not recommended at all but it’s being used a lot by people to receive fast results. Blackhat SEO includes keyword stuffing, link buying, duplicate content, and much more.
- Keyword stuffing-
The words which we put in the Search box of Google are called as keywords. There are two types of keywords short-tail and long-tail keywords. When the Google bots find the keywords in the content of your website it starts giving you rank. So people have started fooling Google by stuffing keywords and making insensible sentences. For instance, considering the keyword “Red Velvet cake in Mumbai,” people put up content like ‘We serve best red velvet cake in Mumbai. The red velvet cake in Mumbai is amazing.’ Sentences like this make no sense and result in bad user experience. But you’ll rank in the top searches. 🙂
- Link farms or link buying-
Backinks works like magic for your website. Getting links from a genuine domain will help your website rank well. So blackhat here is people have started buying links. Link farms are the domains that provide links to your website. They’re exactly like the regular farms supplying crops. Google had taken measures and disabled lot of link farms around 2012. But still some of them are in action. Again a bad practice, but instant results.
All these practices undoubtedly give fast results but if Google figures out these things are being carried out on your domain, you’ll be barred from using Google forever. So be aware and play safe 🙂
