Incorrect and perfunctory use of commas could completely change the meaning of the sentence.

Commas have many uses like-
To separate a series of words in the sentence
Use commas to separate each item, word and phrase in a sentence. For example-
Kate saw a country of beautiful lakes, birds, peaks and rivers.
For introducing quotations
Use commas to address direct quotations like-
He said, “I don’t want to register in the program.”
To separate address and date
With a pair of commas, separate the dates, year and all the elements of an address.
The president of the U.S.A was born on December 28th, 1957.
The letter came from 301, Bridgestone street, Seattle, 065.
To separate clauses
Use commas to separate the independent clauses that are linked with a compound sentence.
Charles came, looked around and started teaching.
To separate a parenthetical word or phrase
Separate the sentence elements like ‘therefore’, ‘however’, ‘for example’, etc. with a comma.
