There are two types of articles in the English language. The definite article is ‘The’ and indefinite articles are ‘A’ and ‘An.’

Using ‘A’
‘A’ is used before a word beginning with a consonant, or a sound like a consonant.
I have a lot of work to do.
Using ‘An’
‘An’ is used before words beginning with a vowel or words beginning with a mute “h.”
There is an apple and an orange.
Using ‘The’
‘The’ is used for singular and plural and all genders. It is used before nouns of which there is only one, that is the earth, the sun, etc.
It is also used in the comparative degree when selection is expressed.
The Taj is a historical monument.
Comparative degree- The more you study, the better you achieve.
