“Second baby and that too a girl, how poor and unfortunate are you. Maybe the next time you will give birth to a boy. Let’s hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed. But are you willing to try for the third time?” Kim, the Mumma bear was bombarded with similar questions and statements the moment she gave birth to her second daughter, Zu.
While Zu was the most beautiful and healthy baby one had ever seen, these people were literally crying looking at her only because she was a girl. And, Mumma bear, how could she fight them? They were her own people — her mom, mother-in-law, cousins, and at times her husband too.
All teary-eyed and disgusted with her beloved family Kim, the Mumma bear decided to take care and protect the little newborn, Zu, all by herself. “Even if the entire world is against you, I am here for you. I will always stand by your side no matter what. I wish someday you become so successful that your success slaps these people’s thinking towards you.” Kim, the Mumma bear would mummer in baby Zu’s ears.
She was ready to go to any extent to fulfill Zu’s dreams, wishes and give her the best life.
From that point, Kim tirelessly worked day-in and day-out to give Zu the best education and amenities. She never said “No” to any of her wishes or asks. When Zu had to move to a new city and get admission in one of the best colleges of Pune, Kim, the mumma bear borrowed money to manage her fees & other expenses and fulfil that wish as well.
But when Zu moved to Pune and started staying with the rich kids, she completely changed. Rather than aspiring for success and turning Kim’s dream into a reality, she started lying and conning poor Kim. “Mumma bear, I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday, send me money asap.” “I need to buy stationery, send me money asap.” “I want to buy a new phone, send me money asap,” she would say.
And, Kim, the Mumma bear never said, “No.” She just wanted Zu to become successful and for that, she was ready to lose every dime that she owned. On the phone calls, Kim would try her best to explain Zu saying, “Zu, I’m ready to give you all the money you need but please make the best use of it. I have seen hundreds of dreams for you. But it looks like you are losing track now.”
And, Zu, she would just say, “I will talk to you about this later. I am out with my friends right now.” As time passed, this became an everyday thing. Kim, the Mumma bear slowly started losing hope and giving up on her dream of seeing a successful Zu.
One day, Mumma bear was scrolling through her phone and just then she came across a video of Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of KFC. “At the age of 65, when most people retire, this man has built a global empire out of fried chicken. Even after failing more than 1000 times he never gave up on his dream. Today, KFC is in every corner of the world. So always Believe, Dream, Try and Succeed. Age, no bar,” the video said.
Suddenly Mumma bear felt something in her heart. All this time she was dreaming of a successful Zu. But what about her? Can’t she dream of success for herself like Harland Sanders?
That was a moment of epiphany for Kim, the Mumma bear! From that moment, all her focus and attention turned 360 degrees from Zu to herself. Now, she wanted to give meaning to her life and wanted HER success to slap people’s thinking.
Kim, the Mumma bear was a hairstylist and ran a hair & beauty studio to take care of her daughter’s expenses but some of her dreams had taken a backseat due to family’s responsibilities.
“I don’t even remember when I stopped dreaming for myself and started dreaming for others. But not anymore. Now, I want to take control of my life and worry less about what others are doing. Even in the animal kingdom, a mother lets go of her kid at some point. What the kid does next, isn’t the mother’s business. I have also done my part for the kids. It’s time to be free and live for myself now.”
Well, Kim, the Mumma bear was right. It indeed was time for her to start dreaming again.
And, when the heart of a mother dreams for herself, nothing comes in between. The Universe syncs with those dreams to turn them into a reality.
Kim, the Mumma bear saw a dream of becoming one of the leading hairstylists of India. And, today she has turned this dream into a reality. She has left a footprint of her studio all over India and has become an inspiration to every living being around her.
The extended family members now request her to guide their kids. And, if she comes to know about any family member crying over the birth of her second daughter, Kim, the Mumma bear visits them and says, “If you don’t want this little one, I am ready to adopt it. Just stop getting crying over such silly things and find your life’s meaning.”
And, Zu seeing her Mumma bear gain such amazing recognition and respect; she has also come on the right path and is now working hard to become a writer.
Peace, all over!
Most parents try to fulfill their unfulfilled achievements through their kids. They begin to hope that their child could fulfill their unfulfilled dreams. And, when the child doesn’t do that they get all depressed and disappointed.
Each living being comes on Earth with its unique dream and aspiration. Parents shouldn’t interfere with their kids’ dreams and let them choose their path. The best parents can do is focus on themselves and become what they want their kids to become. Because nothing works better than inspiration. Inspire your kids with your success and they will follow!

Amazing!
